Senator Katie Fry Hester is first and foremost an independent legislator who prioritizes people over politics and is serving in her first term as State Senator.

Prior to becoming State Senator, Katie worked in international development with governments, businesses, communities, non-profits, and international agencies around the world to build partnerships and implement strategies that are good for business, good for the environment, and good for communities.

During those 20 years of international experience, Katie helped develop local agricultural markets, worked with government agencies to create jobs, advised companies on engaging key stakeholders, and trained hundreds of people in partnership building.

Throughout her career, Katie worked to create win-win-win opportunities for sustainable development .  Now she is using these experiences and skills as your State Senator.

Katie knows that differences of opinion can get in the way of working together—yet underneath these differences are shared common values. When we connect with each other on our common values, incredible things can happen. She has always strived to collaborate with others in order to drive innovative solutions and bring progress that is more broadly accepted by everyone.
